This will be made up of one Standard Allowance and any additional Elements that apply to you and your household (for example, for housing costs or children).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is worth checking that the DWP have included all the Elements that you are entitled to, as mistakes are made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have listed below the Allowance and various Elements that are available.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Standard Allowance<\/strong><br>Your monthly amount will depend on whether you are single or in a couple, and your age:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>Your circumstances<\/strong><\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><strong>Monthly Standard Allowance<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">Single and under 25<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">\u00a3338.58<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">Single and 25 or over<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">\u00a3424.90<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">In a couple and you\u2019re both under 25<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">\u00a3528.34<br><\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">In a couple and either of you are 25 or over<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">\u00a3666.97<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\"><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Housing Costs Element<\/strong><br>If you and\/or your partner pay rent and\/or service charges. See\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ucpages.co.uk\/universal-credit-home-page\/you-and-your-rent\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"3361\"><em>If you pay rent<\/em>\u00a0<\/a>for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Child Element<\/strong><br>If you are responsible for a child or young person who lives with you. See&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/ucpages.co.uk\/universal-credit-home-page\/how-much-menu\/if-you-have-children\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1536\">If you have children&nbsp;<\/a><\/em>for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Disabled Child Element<\/strong><br>If you are responsible for a child who is getting Disability Living Allowance \/ Child Disability Payment or Personal Independence Payment \/ Adult Disability Payment. See&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/ucpages.co.uk\/universal-credit-home-page\/how-much-menu\/if-you-have-children\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1536\">If you have children&nbsp;<\/a><\/em>for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Childcare Costs Element<\/strong><br>If you (or your partner) pay childcare costs to enable you (or them) to work. See&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/ucpages.co.uk\/universal-credit-home-page\/how-much-menu\/if-you-have-children\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1536\">If you have children&nbsp;<\/a><\/em>for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Limited Capability for Work Related Activity Element<\/strong><br>If you (or your partner) have been found to have a Limited Capability for Work Related Activity, are getting New-Style ESA and are in the Support Group, or were previously getting Income-Related ESA in the Support Group when you made your claim for Universal Credit.<br>See&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ucpages.co.uk\/universal-credit-home-page\/how-much-menu\/if-you-have-a-health-problem-that-affects-your-ability-to-work\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1542\"><em>If you have a health issues<\/em>&nbsp;<\/a>for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Carer Element<\/strong><br>If you (or your partner) are caring for a severely disabled person 35 hours or more a week (it doesn\u2019t matter if you\/your partner are in work, or how much you\/your partner earn \u2013 you may still be entitled. See<a href=\"https:\/\/ucpages.co.uk\/universal-credit-home-page\/how-much-overview\/if-you-are-a-carer\/\"><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/a><em><a href=\"https:\/\/ucpages.co.uk\/universal-credit-home-page\/how-much-menu\/if-you-are-a-carer\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1540\">If you are a&nbsp;carer<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Transitional SDP Element<\/strong><br>Can be included if you were getting a Severe Disability Premium in an award of Income-Related ESA, Income Support or Income-Based JSA before claiming UC. Strict rules apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Migration Transitional Element<\/strong><br>Can be included if you were getting Income-Related ESA, Income Support, Income-Based JSA, Housing Benefit and\/or Tax Credits before you claimed Universal Credit and you claimed because you received a managed migration notice.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#66cccc\"><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong> If you feel that an Element that you are entitled to is missing from your Universal Credit assessment contact a Benefits Adviser for help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#cde6e3\"><strong>Example:<\/strong><br>Dan&nbsp;is single, age 24 and lives in a one bedroom social housing flat with a rent of \u00a3110 per week.<br>He works in a call centre and his hours have just been cut &#8211; his net monthly wage will drop to \u00a31,071.<br>If Dan makes a claim for Universal Credit, he will be entitled to over \u00a3200.00 per month (before any deductions if applicable).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#cde6e3\"><strong>Example:<\/strong><br>Jaz is 30 and lives with her 9 year old daughter in a&nbsp;two bedroom rented property (rent \u00a3145 a week). She&#8217;s been working full time but has lost her job and so has made a claim for Universal Credit. Jaz will be entitled to over \u00a31400.00 per month&nbsp;(before any deductions if applicable).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#ffcccc\"><strong>TIP:<\/strong> Many workers are entitled to Universal Credit but don\u2019t realise it.
