Your Universal Credit payments may have stopped for a number of reasons.
No longer entitled
You may have had a change that means you’re no longer entitled to UC such as savings increasing above £16,000 or going abroad for more than a month.
Your earnings have increased meaning a nil award
As your earnings increase, your UC award reduces until you’re earnings mean that you are no longer entitled to UC.
Failed to accept claimant commitment
You may have had a change that meant your claimant commitment needed reviewing. If you failed to accept that new commitment then your claim can be closed.
Chosen for a review
You may have been chosen for a review. Your payments can be suspended if you fail to participate.
If you think this has happened speak to a Benefits Adviser as soon as possible.
You’ve been sanctioned
If you have failed to complete a ‘to-do’, such as attending a work focused interview with your work coach, or look for work for enough hours, your UC award can be reduced. Sometimes this means your payments stop for a short period.
Award dropped below Housing Costs Element
If the amount of your UC award drops below the amount due to be paid to your landlord, then they will receive their payment and there’s nothing left to pay you.
If you are in financial hardship as a result speak to a Benefits Adviser as soon as possible.
